Rachelle Kay holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Alberta where she majored in Sociology and Spanish. She joined the Momentum team to assist in increasing mental health accessibility and awareness. Rachelle has worked in the public sector with non-profit organizations to increase mentoring for children and youth for over a decade, and is now working to increase psychological safety in the workplace. She is a long time youth mentor, and past board member for Today’s Innovative Music Edmonton (TIME Association) and Kenilworth Community League. In her down time, Rachelle enjoys expressing her creativity through pottery and watercolours, time with friends and family and being out in nature.
Nojan Mannani recently graduated from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Science majoring in Biology and plans on continuing his education in medical school one day. He is a co-founder of the Delton Student Learning Organization focused on providing increased classroom attention to students at an inner-city school in Edmonton and has extensive volunteer experience with kids in a variety of settings. Nojan is passionate about reducing the stigma surrounding seeking help for mental health, and believes in the importance of providing affordable, accessible counselling services to anyone who needs it. In his free time, Nojan enjoys watching and playing a variety of sports, as well as travelling as much as he can.
Pei Ying Ng aka PY (She/Her), holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering and is a registered Professional Engineer. She is actively seeking ways to spread mental health awareness especially with her engineering background because she strongly believes that everyone should be involved. Her natural leadership skills earned her the role of President of the Forward Thinkers Club (Toastmasters International) in Sherwood Park within two years of joining. Currently, she is using her transferable
skills and experience to help out the community whenever possible.
Catherine Arnold (she/her) has been a practicing social worker for 30 years, having initially worked in the not-for-profit sector before moving to government. Catherine completed a BA in Sociology at the University of Alberta before pursuing a Bachelor and then Master’s degree in social work at the University of Calgary. Catherine has worked for Alberta Children’s Services over the last 25 years, having started in front-line service delivery with vulnerable children and families, before shifting into program and policy development work at the Ministry level. Given accrued professional and personal insights, Catherine is committed to promoting social justice and equity, and she is looking forward to contributing to Momentum’s mission of providing responsive, accessible and culturally safe mental health support services.
Alex (he/him) is a clinical pharmacist for Alberta Health Services and he currently practices in the ambulatory breast cancer clinic at the Cross Cancer Institute. He completed his Doctor of Pharmacy at the University of Alberta followed by a postgraduate residency training with Cancer Care Alberta. Throughout his undergraduate studies, Alex was a passionate advocate for student mental health. He is excited to continue to support mental health advocacy in his local community during his term on the Momentum Board of Directors.
