Bring it on, 2022! We are ready for you!

Happy New Year! While the new year came in looking frighteningly similar to the last two years – with yet another pandemic wave, new variant and a polar vortex, we are not going to let that stop us! We are very disappointed to postpone our in person service delivery once again, however as soon as it is safe, we are ready. In the meantime, we are helping record numbers of clients virtually and are here for you, when you need us!

This first month of the year can be difficult for many on a good year.  Blue Monday may or may not be a marketing tactic, but those of us in the mental health sector know it holds some truth.  Debt from giving, disappointing interactions or lack of connections during the holiday season, the ‘hangover’ from the excitement and build up to the holidays, cold weather and less hours of sunlight can all contribute to sadness and overwhelm.  Add to this the pressure to set intentions, stick to resolutions and wondering when this pandemic will end, feeling blue is likely reality for many of us.  Acknowledge it, allow it and if your feelings become too overwhelming, reach out to a trusted friend, family member or a mental health professional for help.

January is also host to Bell Let’s Talk Day on the 26th.  This day is so incredibly important to get us talking about all things mental health.  Ending the stigma and having conversations about the impacts of mental health have never been more important.  In the past few years, I have chosen to be vulnerable on this day, sharing my own struggles and experiences with mental health.  While it can be uncomfortable, sharing your story gives others hope, helps to normalize mental health and its impacts, and helps those both struggling or helping someone they care about, feel seen and heard.  I hope you consider sharing your story this #BellLetsTalk day!

As always, we couldn’t do what we do without you!

If you would like to assist us in providing low-cost, quality mental health support, please consider donating.  As a registered charity, you will receive a tax receipt.  Thanks for helping keep the Momentum!
