Social Work Week, International Women’s Day, Become a Monthly Donor!

March 6-12 is Social Work Week in Alberta! This years’ theme is ‘In Critical Demand-Social Work is Essential’. Now more than ever, we need to celebrate social workers, especially those who have been working on the front lines of healthcare and mental health…the pandemic has taken a lot out of us, collectively.

Let’s celebrate the contributions of social workers, both here at Momentum and throughout the province. For those of you in Edmonton, check out the High Level Bridge this week as it is lit magenta in recognition of #socialworkweek2022!

March 8th is International Womens’ Day! This is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. IWD2022’s theme is ‘gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow.’

As a woman and mother of two girls, I am noting how many more women are joining important spaces previously held by a male majority in politics, leadership, athletics (Women’s Hockey Olympic GOLD!) and how encouraging this is for my daughter’s futures. Momentum was founded by women, and boasts an all-female leadership team, with equal numbers of women and men serving on our board of directors. Let’s collectively celebrate our achievements on this special day and all month long.

Throughout the month of March, we are hoping to increase our monthly donors. Monthly giving brings sustainability and predictability to a non-profit charity, through a recurring donation program where you can automatically donate to your favourite charity, Momentum!
CanadaHelps, our monthly giving platform, will donate an additional $20 for every new monthly gift of $20 or more!
What does $20 extra dollars do? It is approximately the amount it costs to subsidize a counselling session for someone without the means to pay on our sliding scale. It has a direct impact on our ability to ensure accessible, affordable mental health support to those who need us, when they need us. Please consider becoming a monthly donor today!

As always, we couldn’t do what we do without you!

If you would like to assist us in providing low-cost, quality mental health support, please consider donating.  As a registered charity, you will receive a tax receipt.  Thanks for helping keep the Momentum!
